Thinning hair
treatments
Thinning hair treatments for
men and women would sometimes vary depending on the cause of
the hair thinning problem. There are presently a lot of hair
loss products available in the market today that boasts of
being able to stop hair loss but you have to remember that not
all of these hair loss products are actually effective. As of
the moment there are only few treatments that are proven to
work or are effective. These hair treatments are Minoxidil,
Propecia, Avodart and hair transplants.
Thinning
hair treatments
Let us
first discuss the thinning hair treatments for men.
Minoxidil (Rogaine) is often used for treatment, this is an
over the counter medication which means that you can purchase
it without any medical prescription from your doctor since it’s
considered to be a relatively safe substance. Based on some
clinical studies made, this medication works best when applied
in the crown area or the top of the head. It is available in
different dosage 2%, 4% and 5% solution. If you will use this
product you should be careful in its application because it
might cause hair growth in unwanted places. Just apply it on
the part where you want the hair to grow. Another hair
treatment for men is the Finasteride (Propecia). This is
approved by the FDA to be used as treatment for men only. It
works by preventing hormones from getting into hair follicles.
Propecia is actually a lower dose drug known as the Proscar.
Proscar is used for treating enlarge prostates in men. This
type of drug is harmful to pregnant women and could also harm
the fetus inside the womb hence its use is only for men. Its
main function is to retain the hairs that are still in
place.Full effects can only be determined after 6 to 12 months
of use.
When it
comes to thinning hair treatmentsf or womenMinoxidil
(Rogaine) can be used as well as hair transplants. Recent
studies have also made discoveries on topical medications known
as the prostaglandin analogs. This is used for hair growth in
both men and women. Please take note that although these are
options for hair growth; prostaglandin analogs are not approved
by the FDA yet since these are only being used primarily for
eyelash enhancement.

Aside from
knowing these medical treatments there are also natural ways
that could minimize hair loss. Take a look at the shampoo that
you are currently using and start reading the label. Opt for
shampoos that do not contain active ingredients of sodium
laureth sulfate which is normally found in strong home cleaner
products and the sodium laureth sulfatewhich is a grease
stripping agent. Both of these ingredients do not directly
cause hair loss but it would lead to dryness and breakage of
hair hence the problem of hair loss would arise. In short one
good way to prevent hair loss is to ensure that your hair is
healthy. Women should also refrain from binding and braiding
their hair tightly since this would produce tension and
pressure on the hair which can lead to hair
breakage.
