Hair loss
solutions
Types of hair loss
Hair loss
is perhaps one of the most apparent physical problems, which is
ironically the least treated as well. Medically known as
‘Alopecia’, the condition has attracted the attention of many
researchers in modern times and some practical solutions too
have been explored as a result. The Alopecia condition is
categorized mainly into three types, the female type
(androgenic), the patchy type (areata), and the drug induced
type (Telogen effluvium). Alopecia or hair loss causes more of
the psychological problems rather than physical
harm.
What are the main causes of hair
loss?
Hair loss
is caused by anyone or more of the following:
- Hereditary factors: some people may
inherit the condition which is identified by the pattern of
hair loss in the ancestors. However its inheritance is not
an essential feature.
- Hypovitaminosis: Deficiency of some
vitamins like Vitamin A, Biotin, and Vitamin B-6 etc.can
cause loss of hair and due enrichment in that case is
remedial.
- Hypothyroidism: has also been found to
cause loss of hair
- Stress
and age factors. Too play some role in hair
loss
- Drug
Induced: Radio or chemotherapy follows with hair
loss. Some drugs used in acne treatment like ‘Accutane’or
birth control pills too, cause hair
loss.

Hair Loss
Solutions
There is
not much you can do with the heredity, except that you may
think of hair transplant or hair cloning which is the better
option of the two. In case of hair cloning, follicles from your
body may be used, hence more natural.
- It has
been verified by laboratory testing that rats kept deprived
of Biotin, lost hair and having been fed with vitamin A and
B enrichment, recovered with full hair growth. Enrichment
with zinc, magnesium and iron too is
useful.
- It is
good strategy to discontinue a drug in case, it is
suspected to have caused hair loss, if the use of drug is
avoidable.
- A
suitable oil massage of scalp, helps improve blood
circulation and can, not only prompt the regrowth of lost
hair but also can elongate and add luster to them. Thick
,long ,shiny black hair of the Bengali girls are,
probably due to the fact that rice and fish are staple to
them and consumption of Hilsa fish stewed in mustard
oil is a delight. Mustard oil is extracted from the seeds
of three different varieties of Brassica. Indians consume
lot of coconut oil and have healthy hair. On account of the
erucic acid content it was considered unsuitable for
cooking in past but its huge consumption particularly that
of the canola oil in the subcontinent, has been found only
very beneficial in reference to the heath of
hair.
